Holiday Worship Schedules Kicks off Tonight

Our holiday worship season kicks off tonight with our celebration of Thanksgiving with a service of lessons and hymns using the favorite lessons and hymns as chosen by the members of St. Mark.  Divine service begins at 6:30pm.

Below is a schedule of our Advent/Christmas/New Year’s celebrations:

Midweek Advent — “Christ Comes to Us in His Meal” — Wednesdays, December 1/8/15, 6:30pm

Advent means “coming.”  The season of Advent focuses our eyes on Christ who is coming:  in the manger of Bethlehem (past), in His Word and Sacraments (present) and in the clouds at the end of time (future).  Our midweek Advent services will direct our attention especially to the present manner in which Christ comes to us – His means of grace.  Holy Communion will be offered according to the normal schedule (Wednesdays preceding first and third Sundays).

  • Holy Communion:  “so lovingly bestowed”
  • Holy Communion: “the priceless gifts of heaven”
  • Holy Communion: “Your precious Word believing”

Christmas Eve — Friday, December 24, 6:30 pm

The words of the prophets and apostles – promises made, promises kept: the Savior is here! – are front and center in this service of lessons and carols.  Oh, and by the way, we’ll be singing some of the Church’s most beloved hymns (hopefully some of yours too!)!

Festival of the Nativity — Saturday, Dec. 25, 10:30 am

Christ is here!  We finish our series begun in midweek Advent services on Holy Communion by focusing on receiving Christ properly:  “We recognize the Body of the Lord.”  The Lord’s Supper will be offered today!

New Year’s Eve — Friday, December 31, 6:30 pm

One year ends.  Another begins.  In transition, we focus our hearts on Christ, the Master who will serve His faithful servants!  The words of Jesus in Luke 12:35-40 will focus our thoughts.  The Lord’s Supper will be offered tonight.

Note Well

  • There will be NO Wednesday services on December 22 or December 29
  • There WILL be Divine Services on Sunday, December 26 and January 2.
