St. Mark’s 2009 Advent and Christmas Schedule

St. Mark wishes to announce it’s Advent and Christmas worship schedule.  In addition to the normal Sunday Divine Services, we will be offering midweek Advent services, and celebratory Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve services.  Brief descriptions and information are included below:

Midweek Advent, Wednesdays, December 2/9/16, 6:30 pm — Paul helps us understand the meaning of Advent as he unfolds it to the Roman congregation – the coming of Christ in the clouds, His coming in the means of grace, His coming in the manger.  Holy Communion will be offered according to the normal schedule (Wednesdays preceding first and third Sundays).

  • Understand the Present Times (Romans 13:11-14 and Lk. 1:1-25)
  • Understand the Scriptures (Romans 15:4-13 and Lk. 1:26-56)
  • Understand the Manger (Romans 1:1-7 and Lk. 1:57-80)

Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, 6:30 pm – The words of the prophets and apostles – promises made, promises kept: the Savior is here! – are front and center in this service of lessons and carols.  Oh, and by the way, we’ll be singing some of the Church’s most beloved hymns!

Festival of the Nativity, Friday, Dec. 25, 10:30 am – Marvel at the Word made flesh!  On Christmas we let this sweet truth wash over us!  The Lord’s Supper will be offered today!

New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31, 6:30 pm – One year ends.  Another begins.  In transition, we focus our hearts on Christ, the Gardener working on our behalf!  The words of Jesus in Luke 13:6-9 will focus our thoughts.  The Lord’s Supper will be offered tonight!
